We say goodbye to Elen de Lacy who is leaving us in September to start a PhD with DECIPHer. Elen has worked for the organisation for nearly 7 years as Research and Policy Officer and then Chief Executive.

The revised EU Tobacco Products Directive will replace existing legislation on regulating the sale and manufacture of tobacco products and, for the first time, regulate e-cigarettes and herbal products.
On 8th June 2015 the Welsh Government introduced the Public Health (Wales) Bill. The Bill is currently at Stage 1 during which the general principles are being considered by the Health and Social Care Committee.
Parc Prison in Bridgend County is to ban smoking by February 2016, the Ministry of Justice has announced.
Last month saw the introduction of the Public Health Bill into the National Assembly for Wales. We are pleased that the Bill includes a number of tobacco and smoking-related proposals.
On 12th May we hosted an event at the Senedd called A Smokefree Generation for Wales. The event was sponsored by the Chair of the Health and Social Care Committee and Labour Assembly Member for Aberavon David Rees.
Our #sharetheair campaign continues, with a current focus on Wales’ much-loved coastline and its beautiful beaches.
We launched the independent evaluation of The Filter Service at a showcase event in St David’s Hall in Cardiff on the 15th April 2015. Delegates had a chance to meet the team and learn more about the services we offer.
ASH Wales is calling on tertiary institutions, including all Welsh universities, to review their policies to protect the health of students, staff and visitors and to establish a more socially responsible and ethical standard of conduct.
